Responsibilities
Your role: main objectives:
The role of the Cloud Engineer - Application Architect is to enhance the capabilities of the Data Platform services. The work of the cloud architect/engineer is to advise customers who want to use the cloud and perform deep Proofs-of-Concept of new cloud technologies with focus on data-oriented services and analytics projects.
Your Tasks:
- Architecture and design of information systems hosted on the cloud (focus is on data-oriented solutions).
- Implementation of reusable Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions (e.g., use of Terraform scripts rather than Azure ARM).
- Testing and implementation of OSS or COTS cloud-based services.
- Review of code and architecture of systems delivered by other contract(or)s.
- Evaluation and refactoring of existing systems, supervision of delivery quality.
- Design and development of secure and reliable architecture components and building blocks.
- Development of new functionality in cloud-native or cloud-agnostic applications, as part of Proofs-of-Concept.
- Development and maintenance of technical documentation.
- Analysis and sharing of lessons learned from different cloud services and architectural patterns to technical teams in the European institutions.
- Participation in technical working groups, progress meetings and meetings with the users.
- Assistance during relevant parts of testing, analysis, technical documentation, deployment, evaluation, and reporting
Required profile
Your Qualifications:
- Master degree or 5 years of higher education + minimum 13 years of professional experience
- Proficiency with cloud technologies and infrastructure
- Good knowledge of cloud services and applications, with primary/strong focus on Azure
- Good knowledge of micro-services architecture design, development, deployment and instrumentation
- Good knowledge of applications design
- Good knowledge of at least one object oriented language (e.g. Python, Java, C#)
- Knowledge of interoperability technology (e.g. message-oriented middleware)
- Knowledge of HSM (Hardware Security Module)
- Practical knowledge of common security threats, security controls and associated technologies and practices related to securing cloud platforms, cloud services and associated cloud-based resources and infrastructure
- Ability to give technical presentations
- Ability to apply high quality standards
- Capability of integration in an international/multicultural environment.
- Knowledge of project management methodologies (Agile, Scrum) is an asset.
